I bought a new SCCY CPX-2 black box about a week and a half ago, next day called jason, asked if it needed any up grades, if told me to send it in, hammer spring trigger bar ect ect, , got it back today, and they put a real nice SCCY CPX-2 decal in the box , looks pretty good. time to stick it on my truck and go shooting. think i am going to like this gun. thanks expressdog01

Upgrades???

My fairly new CPX2 (red box, test fired 10/2012, 070XXX) has only has 50 or so rounds through it.

Not sure I want to send it in for upgrades unless I have another reason to send it to SCCY.

This can cause a stampede of guns being sent back to SCCY for the upgrades, right?

It is a sweet gun, a rising star in the gunworld.

Might be able to call Sccy, give them the serial number, and then ask them what the upgrades are and what they are for. Would give you a good feel for whether or not you "need" to get them...

Just my $0.02,

Also, upgrades are a fast, wham, bam thank you mam kinda fix. The tech could probably knock them out blindfolded or in his sleep. He would have to spend much more time shooting, cking etc trying to get to the root of the problem then fixing.IMHO.

I sent my CPX-2 Gen 2 with serial number 069xxx in to SCCY on 2/19/13, and recieved it back today 2/25/13. I live in South Florida and shipping only too 2 days each way. I too got a nice sticker in the box when I opened it. The reciept says they installed a New style trigger bar, New cam, New hammer & spring. I really think it feels a little smother, but maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me. I'll go to the range today and see how she shoots.
I had only one failure on my first range visit, but I did experience a funny reset a few times. I'll report back after the range trip.

Will fire more this weekend to see if it continues. But it appears for a talk with customer service and I am a bit unhappy.

Sounds like the same thing I felt. Give them a call, or just send it in with a note telling them you had a trigger reset problem and they will do the trigger upgrade. If your sending from your home and want it sent back to your home put a copy of your drivers license in with your pistol. They also asked that I send it in the original box for protection. I put that box in another one and sent it. They did the same when they sent it back.

The trigger bar part of the upgrade should fix that. That's why I sent mine in before I even shot it. Jason recommended it so why not.He knows a lot more about guns then I do. It actually felt good that you can rely on someone for a straight answer.

How do you ship your gun back to sccy for these mods?

I sent mine using USPS Priority mail. I insured for $300. I put the SCCY box inside another box for additional protection, and they did the same. They sent it back the same way with signature confirmation.

If you're not an FFL you cannot ship a handgun using US Mail. If the Postal Service find a handgun in the mail without the FFL paper work they are suppose to confiscate it.

Normal people must use either UPS or FedEx to ship a handgun. Those companies can try to force you to use overnight shipping, which is expensive, but that's not in the law (that I have read).

SCCY can ship the gun back to you by USPS as they are an FFL (manufacturer).

SCCY will not force you to ship a pistol any particular way, that's your call.
